What I Wish I Knew When I Was Young

Presenter: Kim Clairy, OTR/L

December 15th, 2020 3:30pm-5:00pm

Hindsight is 20/20! Kim shares what supports, and strategies would have been helpful for her as a child growing up with Autism, ADHD, and SPD. Attendees not only gain understanding on behavioral and learning challenges seen in some children, but also become more equipped to create a supportive home and classroom environment for the unique needs of those with Autism and related disorders. Kim will also discuss methods to prepare for the holiday season with an intentionality for less stress.

About the Speaker

Kim Clairy OTR/L has unique expertise in understanding the inner world of Autism. Diagnosed as an adult and being told “your Autism is severe, you need to live in a nursing home,” Kim broke through many barriers. Over the years she developed strategies to help her function. Kim found her voice and now helps give voice to those with ASD unable to articulate their inner worlds by sharing her journey and professional expertise through didactic and experiential seminars. Additionally, presenting alongside Kim is her husband (AKA “reasonable accommodation”), William Miller.

They are an “open book” and presentations are a great way for others to learn first-hand how to offer positive supports to those with ASD and related disorders.

“I dedicate my life to educating the world about ASD and SPD after years of misunderstandings and harsh labels. I eat, breathe, and live the information I teach. This is my passion- helping others understand, so no one else has to endure what I did.”
